Dr. Ashia Ali graduated from Rangpur Medical College in 1986. She obtained her Diploma in Anesthesia from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DU) in 1998 and FCPS from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons in January 2003.
She started her career in General Anesthesia and worked at at Rangpur Medical College Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, Newport, England, BSMMU and Dhaka Medical College. After passing her fellowship in 2003, she started specializing in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, working first as a registrar in DAB Cardiac Center, Dhaka and then in BSMMU as an Assistant Professor and later in the position of Associate Professor.
During her time in BSMMU, she worked for a year on deputation at the National Institute of Cardio-Vascular Diseases (NICVD), after which she returned to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and became key person of the team in pioneering the establishment of the Anaesthesia unit of the BSMMU Cardiac Center. Working in this unit, she gained vast experience covering a wide range of Cardio-Vascular Surgeries as well as managing patients in the Cardiac ICU.
After a decade working in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia at BSMMU (during last 3 years of which she was the senior-most Cardiac Anesthesiologist at the University Cardiac Center), Dr. Ashia Ali finally joined Apollo Hospitals, Dhaka as a Consultant-Anesthesia & ICU in January 2014.
Throughout her career she has participated in various National and International conferences/seminars. Products of her research have been published in various journals including 3 index journals and 10 others. She taught & examined students of DA, MD and FCPS, and was a guide for FCPS Dissertation as well.
