- Dr. Tamal K. Roysarkar completed his MBBS from Kolkata Medical College, India in July 1985. He subsequently completed his MS in Ophthalmology in December 1991 from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India and FMRF (Fellowship in Vitreo-retinal surgery) in October 1993 from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, India.
- Dr. Roysarkar has set up Asgar Ali Retina Center with a view to promote the treatment and awareness of Diabetic retinopathy (DR) and Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in Bangladesh. Besides these, his area of interest is in surgical retina dealing with vitreo-retinal disorders like proliferative diabetic retinopathy, complicated retinal detachments, macular holes and intraocular foreign bodies. He is also aware of all aspects of medical retina, posterior uveitis & latest diagnostic procedures like OCT, DFA etc.
- He is skilled in other disciplines of eye care like phako surgery & IOL implantations, treatment of refractive, corneal and motility disorders, management of glaucoma, uveitis, pediatric ophthalmology & neuro-ophthalmic problems.
- Now Dr. Tamal Kanti Roysarkar is at Asgar Ali Hospital as Senior Consultant – Ophthalmology and is serving patients regularly. Under his guidance, Asgar Ali Retina Center is proud to announce the launching of MIVS (Micro incision Vitrectomy Surgery) and MICS (Micro incision Cataract Surgery) for the first time in Bangladesh, using the latest equipment OS4 from Switzerland. A dedicated ROP clinic, macula clinic and vision therapy clinic are in the pipeline.
